There is a New Era in Weight Loss Surgery
The numbers are staggering as obesity continues to overtake our loved ones. Sixty million of us are obese and are experiencing increasing medical problems and a potential increased risk of dying.
Obesity-related medical conditions include diabetes, asthma, sleep apnea, some cancers, cardiovascular and some pulmonary disease, gallstones, heartburn, hypertension, infertility, arthritis, urinary incontinence, back and joint pain and gout.
Obesity is the health epidemic of our era. Our lifestyles, the foods we eat, our lack of exercise and daily pressures to work hard and provide for our families have led to unhealthy living. We need to recapture the health and longevity that is slowly slipping from our grasp.
We have committed ourselves to help cure obesity and have created a website (www.endtheweight.com) that is completely devoted to the cure and treatment of obesity. We have always been, and are the leader and innovator in bariatric surgery.
Our surgeons in Connecticut, Dr. Neil Floch, Director of Bariatric Surgery at Norwalk Hospital and Dr. Craig Floch, Director of Bariatric Surgery at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport are experts in all of the bariatric procedures including Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding, Laparoscopic Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Revisional Bariatric Surgery, Stomaphyx, Gastric Band over Gastric Bypass and Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery. Our practice has performed over 3000 bariatric procedures.
Our experience has enabled us to understand that each person has their own individual needs. We have a unique and comprehensive program created and individually designed for each person. It is designed to not only help you lose the weight but keep it off as you experience long-term success. Our support group and postoperative programs are instrumental in helping make it all possible.
Our team makes the long-term care and management of your weight easy and guides you on a lifelong path to freedom from obesity that is safe, enjoyable, and satisfying.
Center of Excellence
Why Should Bariatric Surgery be Performed at a Center of Excellence®
Dr. Neil Floch, Dr. Craig Floch and Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. have been designated as Centers of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). The hospitals at which they operate, Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk Connecticut and St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport Connecticut have also been awarded the Center of Excellence® certification.
In 2006 they were among the first in the state to be certified and they have been recertified in 2010. To receive this certification, the most rigorous standards in the industry must be met. In addition, the bariatric surgeon and the facility in which the surgery is performed, must have a proven track record on patient safety and consistently deliver quality care. There must be a commitment to long-term patient care and success by the surgeon and the affiliated facility. The qualifications for the SRC’s designations must be team focused, extensive, research-based and verified through a rigorous site inspection to validate all of the program’s requirements. It is a very thorough process and consistently ongoing with timely reviews.
