Dr. Craig Floch is the founder and senior partner of Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. The practice began more than 25 years ago and under his direction has developed into one of the most eminent, dedicated, and highly respected multi-specialty surgical practices in Connecticut. Dr. Floch is board certified and is currently a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Floch graduated from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire. He continued his education at the University of Health Sciences at the Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois. He then moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he completed his Internship in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center. From there, Dr. Floch completed his Residency in General Surgery at Case Western Reserve University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, and in the last year of his program, he was the Chief Resident.
In 1994, Dr. Craig Floch, a Westport native, returned to the Norwalk area and began his practice in General Surgery. Through his practice, he is able to provide services for any and all General Surgery needs. He also specializes in Breast Care and Surgery as well as Bariatric Surgery. Many procedures are performed laparoscopically, including but not limited to an appendectomy, hernia repairs, cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal); bariatric procedures including the laparoscopic adjustable banding, gastric sleeve, and gastric bypass. Dr. Floch is available to see patients in our Norwalk, Fairfield and Waterbury offices to offer services to patients in other areas of the state. He has privileges to perform surgery at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut, St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut and Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut.
Dr. Craig Floch has been and continues to be very active in the development of programs and serving on boards and Committees at the hospitals in which he practices. He was instrumental in the establishment of the St. Vincent’s Bariatric Surgery Center at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in 2003. This program has developed into a Center of Excellence and he has been the Director of this program since 2010. He served on the Surgical Peer Review Committee at St. Vincent’s from 2010-2012.
At Norwalk Hospital, Dr. Floch has dedicated a lot of his time and expertise to the success of the Physician Assistant’s Training Program as an instructor. He has been selected for the Award for Excellence in Teaching on four separate occasions. He has been a participant on various committees at Norwalk Hospital as well, including the Surgical Executive Committee, the Search Committee for Chair for the Department of Pediatrics in 2006, the Search Committee for the Chair of the Department of Surgery in 2011 and most recently has served as the Secretary for the Department of Surgery from 2008 to the present time.
